Where is your favourite place to relax? Everyone needs somewhere they can go to recharge their batteries and recover from the energy drains of modern life.
If you go within yourself and imagine an inner sanctuary, this can be nearly as calming as actually being in your favourite relaxing place.
This exercise is designed to help you recharge your energies even when you’re far away from a relaxing environment.
➔ Find a comfortable place where you can close your eyes. Relax, using the breathing technique from the ‘How to Clear Your Mind’ post, or any other method like this simple self-hypnosis script that works for you.
➔ In your mind’s eye, find your favourite place to relax. It could be a room in your house, somewhere that you’ve been on holiday, a memory from long ago, or even an imaginary place. This is somewhere just for you, a peaceful place where you can relax and recharge.
➔ Notice what you can see in your relaxing place, and be aware of the colours around you.
➔ Listen to the peaceful, relaxing sounds.
➔ Notice how peaceful it feels, as you begin to absorb the peace and tranquillity within yourself.
➔ Stay in your relaxing place for as long as feels right, and then come back refreshed.
Repeat this exercise daily, at a time that is right for you.
The first few times you try this exercise, you may find yourself switching between different relaxing places. After a while you will settle on the one that works best for you. Each time you visit, it should become more vivid and real.
This post is one of a series about preparing yourself to clear the blocks to achieving your goals – though of course it also works as a standalone relaxation exercise.
If you want to get a head start, why not download the Achieve Your Goals self-hypnosis audio?

It’s a dual-induction guided visualisation designed to help you get clear on what you really want and get the help of your unconscious mind in achieving it.
“My brain was totally scrambled at the beginning and I fell into a relaxed state almost straight away. Very relaxing! It’s really motivating and great to listen to at work. It took me away from my physical surroundings and into the place within me where my goals are. It made me take a step back from Tuesday morning at work and allowed me to see why I’m here and where I’m going.” – Heather Timm, studio manager
